English longbows are made by gluing different timber layers together. The number of layers ( from 2 to 5) depends on the expected power of a bow and individual preferences. The material to make the longbow belly is usually Ipe- Brazilian walnut, a hardwood with the best possible mechanical properties in the world. The core layers are made from light and stiff woods such as maple, sapeli, wenge and walnut and the auter layers are made from hickory or bamboo. Hickory wood provides soft and pleasant performance of the bow and bamboo guarantees a very good speed, Our bows are glued to light working reflexes at the limb ends. Such a shape found in medieval drawings and engravings contributes to better performance of the longbow. We offer the possibillity to make horn tips in the traditional English style.
